My husband signs the bait & switch contract, assuming it's a standard one-week car rental contract, with the one grand total price that had already been discussed & confirmed in writing.
5) I called & emailed the company. Manager Pam refused to refund the extra bait & switch charge.
4) I receive my credit card bill, with the additional $107.99 tacked on to the total. We had been tricked. Tricked into signing a bait & switch contract, tricked into returning the car a bit late, and tricked into paying an additional $107.99.
2) I send husband to pick up the car, with email conf. printed out & in hand. Ashley presents my husband with a different contract -- with an additional $99.00 + tax = $107.99 added to grand total. She did not inform my husband of this additional charge at all, nor did he notice this bait & switch additional charge.
Employee Ashley clearly & nicely tells my husband not to worry if we are a little late returning the car as they have a convenient key drop box for after-hours, and no one is signed up to rent the car after us -- clearly indicating that there will be no extra charge for a few additional hours/additional 1 day.
BAIT & SWITCH! RENTER BEWARE!
3) Ashley's encouragement was the only reason we relaxed our schedule a bit & returned the car (on the due date) just a bit late. Note, we returned the car with a 100% full tank of gas & well below the mileage limit. We also took very good care of the car & returned the interior in better condition than it was delivered to us (side note, car was delivered to us with very dirty interior). We left the car locked & the key properly in the drop box, as instructed.
1) I call Xpress Rentals & book a 1 week car rental. Employee Ashley was very nice over the phone. Grand total price was clearly discussed, and even emailed to me in a formal (written) confirmation.
